a place for tolerance
Building bridges between people!
a place for tolerance or “ein Platz für Toleranz” is a project created by youngcaritas Oberberg (D), which we wanted to realise for one year in Luxembourg from 15 November 2021, the Day of Tolerance, on the initiative of a former volunteer. Unlike in Germany, we looked for existing benches to decorate them with graffiti on topics such as racism, LGBTQIA+ and much more, and to create places for tolerance: e.g. at community centres, youth centres or schools and high schools.
After a year, that wasn't enough for us, especially because the importance of the project was still very present. We looked for more benches and covered more topics to make a statement for solidarity and diversity. We have become even more sustainable and offer more workshops than just coming to spray once: brainstorming more deeply together with the children and young people, showing them more graffiti skills, possibly building the benches ourselves and ideally ensuring more appreciation for the creation and the whole project with an official inauguration of the place for tolerance.
